I’ve always felt a bit of a kinship with the American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus). If you’ve ever sat by a rushing mountain stream, you might have missed them at first. They aren’t loud or flashy. American Dippers just calmly do their thing, which happens to be walking completely underwater against freezing currents like it’s no big deal.
 
That quiet, steady confidence is exactly what I wanted to capture in this piece.
I spent a lot of time getting the details of this gray little wonder just right. It’s a gentle reminder that you don't have to be the loudest in the room to do something pretty incredible.
